Fulfilling My Passion
About Me: Ever since I was little, I've always had two passions -- writing and sports. Now, as a 23-year old senior Mass Media student at Washburn University, I'm looking forward to being able to blend my two loves together and embark on a long career as a professional sportswriter.
As a kid, I would tag along to high school games with my father, who has written for The Topeka Capital-Journal for over 20 years. I was finally able to get my own byline in print when I was a senior in high school. I've worked at The Capital-Journal as a part-time sportswriter since the Spring of 2006, covering a wide variety of events, including high school sports and the Topeka RoadRunners. I've written stories about everything from NASCAR Racing to 60-and-older men's softball, and I enjoy doing it all.
Working at the paper has given me a chance to meet fascinating people with remarkable stories. It's always a privilege to share the stories in print.
